I really wanted to be able to review more strains during my vacation time in Montreal. The problem is, that although I was blessed with ample time, I did not have access to any clubs or dispensaries in this city, due to Quebec’s less permissive stance on medical cannabis. This means that I didn’t have access to full menu of strains, like I do in B.C., and hence, didn’t really get to be very selective about my purchases. Even though some of the strains I have tried here weren’t necessarily something I would have chosen from a crowd of many, I was still very happy to add these strains to my repertoire of experiences. These ladies didn’t inspire poetry, but still, we had a few laughs and a really pleasant time.

White OG

I just took one of those naps where it’s way too late to nap, but you let yourself pass out anyway. So here I am, wide awake at midnight, thinking that this the perfect time to talk about this first strain, called White OG.

I always like to ask the person dispensing the weed what their favourite strain of the bunch is, and this time I was handed these piney trichome-packed buds. I usually stick with sativas, but I was told that this was a perfect strain to use for night time, and I never say no to sampling the dealer’s choice.

This weed is a pretty zoned-out spacey high for me. I don’t feel too socially or physically functional; I feel more like staring at a wall and getting lost in my thoughts, or staring at a TV screen. The high is super mellow, and in high enough doses will probably melt your face off. There is some definite pain relief with this one, as well as some pretty fierce munchies. The reason why this was not one of my top favourite strains is because about 2 to 3 hours after smoking or vaping, no matter what, I was passing out and ready for bed. And since I usually like to stay awake longer and enjoy my high, and also since, I have yet to find many high-THC indicas that have trouble putting me to sleep, I found White OG to be a tad overwhelming.

I would never leave the house with this strain, because I’m usually falling asleep before I even get a chance to fix myself a snack. So, if you need some weed that will put you bed, White OG is your girl; it’s guaranteed to knock you out, give you a peaceful sleep, and have you up bright and early feeling rested. This is an indica that is probably too powerful for me to want to use regularly, but it is a great one to have around sometimes. Especially when you wake up in the middle of the night, and all you want to do is get some sleep.

Pink Kush x Haze

I am awake fairly early, feeling calm and rested after my mostly dreamless White OG sleep, and today is the day I need to start packing to go back home. I thought I would procrastinate a bit by throwing another strain into this post, since this poor girl has no name. I always need to have a wake and bake strain on hand, so I was given some beautiful, dense, and hairy buds which I was told were a cross of Pink Kush and Haze. There are aromas of flower and earth, with a sweet smoke that could almost taste like bubblegum, but don’t be fooled, she is potent and hits hard. On an empty stomach this strain might make your head spin, and in high doses, will have you floored and exploring the deepest caverns of your mind. Though in the right doses, she starts out very bubbly, fun, and talkative, and is also accompanied by a nice light body buzz. Later on, however, is when some more indica-like effects start to kick in, dry mouth, munchies, and tiredness. This can be a productive high if you are able to get yourself motivated, but this strain is probably best used as a daytime chill-out. Great for pain and stimulating appetite, Pink Kush x Haze is a perfect lazy Sunday wake and bake.
